Tenley's 2010 Christmas Ornaments

Owl from Grandma Covert

A sock monkey to symbolize the trends of 2010.

Baby Shoes and a Heart hanging from a baby pin.

From Grandma Witmer...a 2010 ornament for my birth year. She also gave Mommy one for 1979 and Daddy one for 1976.

A beautiful giraffe lennox ornament to go with the rest of the lennox on Mommy's tree.

An owl which sybolizes the decor in her bedroom.

The tree is finally up and decorated, thanks to 1 day off with a sick baby followed by 2 snow days! As I was taking a moment to enjoy the beauty of our lit christmas tree, I thought to myself that I should photograph each of Tenley's "first" ornaments as a Covert. Each ornament is either from someone special in Tenley's life or one Mommy specially picked out for Tenley. There are still a few more for me to post...but it is night, night and Mommy needs rest from her long nights with a sick baby.

Doc says "She has a history of Fevers"

Doc says she has a "History of Fevers"...wouldn't you say she is a little young to have a "history"! It is her third fever in three months....each progressively higher. She is a trooper though...handles herself well. At the doctors yesterday she was screaming with delight! What sick kid with a 102 fever is screaming happy coos for 1 hour and the only reason she stopped was because they pricked her foot, swabbed her throat and nose, took a rectal temperature, and bagged her for urine. Pretty fair to be miserable after all that and she was only moody for like 3 minutes. To be continued...baby is up and crying...

A Father’s Love

ava 1st bday 144ed

“When I Look Into Your Eyes” was my Mommy and Daddy’s wedding song.  It was a perfect song for them because the lyrics spoke volumes, yet the song wasn’t a traditional first dance song.  But many of those same lyrics represent my Daddy’s love for me.

When I look into you eyes
I can see how much I love you
And it makes me realize
When I look into your eyes
I see all my dreams come true
When I look into your eyes

My  Mommy took this picture and she says it captured a “moment” that she will treasure forever because:

I am pretty in pink and Daddy is in his  camo gear,                                                                                                             and together she says “we make a perfect pair”.

It is amazing how tight Brian is wrapped around Tenley’s Finger.  His love for her has grown leaps and bounds.  I KNOW he loved her from the first day he met her but I can now see that he has found his “forever” love for her.  He calls her his “angel” all the time and just rants and raves about her.  He get excited to see her and to hold her.  Her smile lights up his world and that inturn…lights up mine.  Tenley has changed our lives forever and we are so grateful to all who helped us and Tenley to find forever families.

A special Thank you to:

Denise and Family for loving Tenley as if she were your own and for showering her with love and affection.  She will know you and see you often through out her life and I am sure that your love for each other will continue to blossom.

Bethany Christian Services for finding us a forever daughter and her a forever family.  We feel blessed beyond belief and are forever grateful for your service and kindness.

Friends and Family for supporting us through our ups and downs and for being so accepting of our little one.

Life in words…

I have been great…well good…at keeping up with pictures on Tenley’s blog but have neglected writing about all of her accomplishments and changes.  This blog isn’t only for those who don’t get to spend each day with her but also as a journal for me to look back and reflect on her journey as a Covert.  So today…no pictures…just words (hopefully).  Let’s start with the most exciting new.  Get prepared…it’s BIG!  Can you guess?  I am waiting……Okay, I’ll let you in on a little, I mean HUGE secret!  Tenley is ours forever and always (well except for the fact we haven’t gone to court) but who is counting that!  On November 20, 2010, Tenley’s birthfather’s rights were officially terminated and neither the birthmother or father can take her from our home!  Now that is BIG news!  Brian and I couldn’t be happier!

Now here is the rambling part…so much to say and it is going to be all over the place…prepare yourself…Count to three…take a deep breath…GO!

Tenley has changed so much.  She is just such a delight.  She is always happy and smiling.  She sleeps through the night (without her swaddle now as of December 2010).  She giggles when you take her shirts off which is just the funniest thing to watch.  Daddy still calls her his little TV buff because she loves watching shows…especially Wow! Wow! Wubbsy!  She is eating rice and is about to start trying veggies in her diet.  Tenley has her first TOOTH!  It is on her bottom right and is fully through the skin…we are just waiting for it to pop all the way up.  She loves to hear stories that have animal noises in them. She giggles each time.  Her favorite story is “Does a Cow Say Boo”.  Tenley still loves her pacifier and chewing on her fingers.  Her new interest is her blanket bear.   It is sooo soft and cuddly.  She also loves her glow seahorse that plays soothing music.  Tenley doesn’t like to be cuddled to sleep.  Just lay her in her crib in the positioner and she does most of the work herself.  She goes to bed at 7 and wakes up at 7!  She loves bath time.  She kicks the water and makes cooing noises.  She especially loves being pampered after with lotion and powder.  She always smells so yummy after a bath.  I am running out of thoughts…give me a moment to think….

Oh yes…she has the funniest hair:  patches her and there and everywhere.  Last doctors visit she was 13 pounds 2.6 ounces and 24 and 1/4 inches long.  She also has a funny toe that sticks up….kinda strange…but hey we all are different! Maybe her webbed toes will make her a better swimmer than her mommy!

Tenley goes to day care with all her new little friends.  There names are Jada, Emma,  Ethan, Kayla, Alysa, Carl and Alanna.  Tenley has loved Mrs. Summer since the day she arrived. She has fit right in!  My favorite thing is how the little kids fight over holding her when I come to pick her up.  It is too cute!  I also love that Alanna calls her Tenny!  So Sweet!

Tenley already has Daddy wrapped around her little finger.  He is always saying to her that “we have the best baby ever.  How did we get so lucky?  Saying how much he loves her and kissing her with his rough scruffy face, which she hates!

Oh…and my two favorite  things…

1.  She knows I am mommy!

2.  She loves to put her hand gently on my mouth at night to feel my breath on her as I sing her “This old man”.  Melts my heart!

So that is the quick catch up of life in our family of Three!  We feel so blessed to have Tenley in our lives.  She is our little miracle!

Proposed Front Side of Christmas Card

christmas pics of tenley 2 034 e 2 copy

So here is my proposed, totally hand-made, christmas card.  I really like it but wish it had a more catchy phrase like “All I want for Christmas is you”….but Grandma says it doesn’t make sense with out a picture of my mommy and daddy on here.  Anyone else have a better idea?
